About Me

This blog is about some of the things I have learned and am still learning. I lead an extraordinary life and I want to share some of it with you. Extraordinary because I have now done things that I really never would have ever dreamed about doing, gone places I didn't know existed, and met people who have impacted my life in loads of ways. I have experienced wonderful food, worked in interesting situations, changed careers, and faced tough situations. I have a great family and a world wide circle of friends. I am constantly learning and growing, and this blog is another step in my great journey. So I hope I can inspire you to try something new, think about something from a different perspective or just kick back, have a coffee and enjoy my words and pictures.Three things have inspired to write this blog.
  1. My grandchildren - so in the future they have some written words to add to their memories
  2. My (usually) younger friends - who sometimes think I am particularly skilled in things that I think are ordinary.  Just maybe I have something to share that can inspire them and you.
  3. I just needed to have a go, push some boundaries, see what else I could do.
Nothing extraordinary about my upbringing. I had a loving Mum and Dad, and 5 siblings. Money was short, and a treat meant a roast chicken dinner and ice cream sandwiches.  My memories are of family, friends, weddings, picnics, yatching and neighbours. I loved school and I got involved in lots of things including piano, choir, Girl's Brigade, netball and swimming.  All these things have contributed to who I am today.

Married by 19, first baby at 20 and 4 children by the age of 27. All boys and all a very important part of my life. Without them I never would have learned how to cook in bulk, believe me it has been an essential skill.  Now they have provided me with grandies who are definitely the new loves of my life, sorry boys! But the greatest love of my life is Big Red, the boy I fell in love with at 15 and knew was "it" from day one. He is my biggest supporter, shoulder to lean on, friend, and partner on this extraordinary journey.

So that's me in a nutshell. I hope you enjoy my journey......
